The United States Mission in Nigeria has issued a fresh warning to Nigerians travelling to the US, urging strict compliance with immigration regulations and visa conditions as rules continue to tighten.

The Mission advised students, workers, and visitors to respect the approved duration and terms of their stay, warning that any violations could negatively impact future travel opportunities.

“Staying compliant with U.S. immigration laws isn’t just the right thing to do — it protects your future and keeps opportunities open for Nigerian travellers,” the Mission stated.

The advisory was shared on the Mission’s official social media page on Monday as part of efforts to educate travellers on the importance of adhering to US immigration rules.

The Mission also urged Nigerians to ensure their travel documents remain valid throughout their stay and to avoid actions that could put their immigration status at risk.

“Compliance with immigration rules benefits both travellers and the host country,” it added, noting that adherence helps maintain trust in the visa system and safeguards long-term travel opportunities.

The US Mission encouraged Nigerians to make informed decisions and remain compliant with immigration laws in order to preserve future opportunities for travel, study, and work in the United States.
