Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died at the age of 66 after battling cancer.
The actor reportedly died on Sunday, following his struggle with the illness.
According to a burial announcement shared by veteran actor, Jide Kosoko, Ogogo will be buried on Monday, August 24, 2026, in his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State.
He died at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at the age of 66.
The development comes days after Kira and her sister, Haleemah, revealed that their father had been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and appealed for public support as the family sought treatment options.
Before his death, the actor reportedly received hundreds of offers of medical, spiritual and other forms of assistance from Nigerians, colleagues and well-wishers.
His close friend and colleague, Yinka Quadri, had disclosed that more than 300 people, and possibly over 500, contacted the family with offers of assistance.
In a statement shared on Instagram, Quadri said the volume of offers had become challenging for the family, particularly as they tried to determine which interventions could be pursued without disrupting Ogogo’s ongoing medical treatment.
The actor also received support from Ogun State governorship aspirant, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Senator Yayi, who reportedly facilitated efforts to secure specialist medical attention for him.
Actress Toyosi Adesanya had earlier disclosed that Adeola personally contacted cancer specialists to assist the veteran actor and that Ogogo had been admitted for treatment.
However, before his death was announced, Kira had alleged that some individuals were attempting to profit from her father’s illness.
Speaking during an emotional TikTok live session on Saturday, she reportedly accused some people offering assistance to the family of making financial demands amid the actor’s battle with cancer.
Ogogo was a prominent figure in the Yoruba film industry and was widely recognised for his contributions to Nollywood over several decades.
